At Raw Potential, we’re proud to be a brand deeply inspired by nature. From the materials we choose to the way we design and deliver our products, our goal is to tread as lightly as possible on the planet. Nature influences not only the aesthetic of our swimwear, but also our values. On this World Earth Day, we’re sharing what we’re doing to make a difference—and how we’re strengthening our impact through our corporate Membership with the Marine Conservation Society.
Why World Earth Day Matters More Than Ever:
World Earth Day is more than a celebration—it’s a global reminder of our shared responsibility to protect the environment. Today, climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss are at the forefront of urgent global challenges.
According to the UN Environment Programme, ‘19-23 million tonnes of plastic waste leaks into aquatic ecosystems, polluting lakes, rivers and seas’ (UNEP, 2025). This contaminates our marine ecosystems and even enter our food chain. Meanwhile, global temperatures continue to rise, causing sea levels to increase and extreme weather events to become more common. Without immediate and sustained action, the damage will be irreversible.

Our Commitment to Our Planet:
At Raw Potential, we strive to be as responsible as possible, making changes however big or small. Our packaging is made using recycled, recyclable, biodegradable, and renewable materials to reduce waste and minimize our environmental footprint.
We also use plantable seed paper for swing tags and thank-you cards. Once customers are done with them, they can be planted to grow wildflowers—creating a small but meaningful cycle of giving back to the Earth. Our commitment to sustainability extends to our product materials. Each item in Collection 1 is made using pre- and post-consumer waste, including recycled plastic bottles, discarded fishing nets, and ocean plastics. This not only reduces pollution but also contributes to cleaning up the very ecosystems that inspire our designs.

Corporate Partnership: The Marine Conservation Society
In honour of World Earth Day 2025, we're proud to share our corporate charity membership with the Marine Conservation Society. Their mission is to protect the UK’s seas, shores, and marine wildlife. This year, they are leading a powerful campaign through the Big Give appeal to raise awareness about the threat of PFAS, also known as forever chemicals.
PFAS (per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are synthetic compounds found in many household products, including non-stick cookware, waterproof clothing, and food packaging (National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, 2025).Once released into the environment, PFAS do not break down. They accumulate in our waterways, marine life, and even in our own bodies. These chemicals are now widespread in ocean environments and pose serious risks to both ecosystems and human health.
Why PFAS Need to Be Removed from Our Oceans:
PFAS pollution has become a major concern in marine conservation. These chemicals affect marine wildlife at a cellular level, interfering with growth, reproduction, and immune systems. Research shows that they are now present in fish, shellfish, and even deep-sea species—threatening biodiversity and disrupting natural food chains.
This World Earth Day, we're supporting the Marine Conservation Society’s campaign to eliminate PFAS from our oceans and call for stronger regulations. Through education, advocacy, and science-based research, they are driving change to ensure a healthier future for our oceans and the communities that rely on them.

How You Can Help:
We’re inviting our customers, readers, and community to support the Big Give campaign alongside us. Donations made before noon on April 29th will be matched, thanks to funding partners—meaning your impact is doubled.
To contribute directly, visit the campaign page supporting Big Give and MSC to make this happen
If you’re unable to give financially, sharing this message helps raise awareness. The more people who understand the risks of PFAS and ocean pollution, the more momentum we can build for meaningful change. You can also visit the Marine Conservation Society and follow their work on social media at @mcsuk.
Looking Ahead:
At Raw Potential, we know sustainability is a journey. We're not perfect, but we're committed to continuous improvement. Whether it's reducing waste, or partnering with purpose-driven organisations, every decision we make is about moving in the right direction.
This World Earth Day, we want to do more than talk—we want to act. We want to help create a cleaner, healthier ocean and earth for future generations, and we invite you to join us.
